The iconic landmark of Tenerife, the sublime Pico del Teide, offers unique views of the island and the sea. The national park surrounding the volcano is a popular destination for tourists, who drive through Granadilla de Abona in their hire cars on the way to the summit.
The winding road to Teide National Park first passes through a hilly landscape dotted with pine trees before reaching the barren high plateau at the bottom station of the cable car. From here the cable car takes you to 3,555 m above sea level, to the highest summit of Spain. Spring is a great time for this trip, as at this time of year the national park is covered with a veritable sea of flowers.
